Acid Gas Removal

Many natural gases contain hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in concentration ranging from barely detectable quantities to over 30 mole percent. Gases containing H2S or CO2 are classified as sour, and gases free from H2S and CO2 are called sweet. The Gas Sweetening Process aims to remove part or all of the acid gas that the natural gas contains for different reasons as follows:

• For safety reason, to remove the H2S content of the natural gas     stream.

• To satisfy a Sales Gas specification

A conventional acid gas removal plant uses a solvent to trap the acid gases at ambient or a lower temperature and the solvent is regenerated in a reboiler. The absorption is carried out at pressure in a packed column and regeneration is carried out at close to atmospheric pressure in a stripping column. This relies on vaporized solvent to act as a stripping gas and the regenerated solvent is cooled and returned to the absorption column.

NoDoC simulate the cost for acid gas removal based on the nature of gas and acid. In fact NODoC presents the cost for preparation of technologies, equiment, accessories and utilities.
